Barbarous: definition

"Originally, different from one's own language or customs, foreign, alien; and in the ancient world, any person or thing that was non-Greek, non-Roman or non-Christian was called barbarous; characterised by words or phrases that are substandard in usage; crude, coarse, rough etc.; harsh in sound, raucous; uncivilized, savage, primitive; cruel, ferocious, inhuman."
